Quake Arena Arcade for Xbox Live Canceled…

August 5th, 2008 by Skankity Spence

It seems that the hype for Quake Live has ultimately shut down the lesser-known Id release, Quake Arena Arcade.

Quake Arena Arcade was scheduled to be released in the Xbox 360 Live Arcade library, seemingly being a straight port of Quake III Arena. Being developed by Pi Studios, it seems it is being ignored and terminated for the better of it’s… other port, Quake Live, which is to be available for free and browser-based.

John Carmack tells us that:

…right now the publishers aren’t all that interested in a multiplayer-focused game on [XBLA], and they’re probably right. Quake for this coming year is Quake Live.

In my opinion, I was looking forward to the 360 port. Nothing like covering my favorite game on my two favorite systems, yeah? But I’ll be happy to go with Quake Live any day.

Speaking of Quake Live, when will this game be released?!
