No Doubt Going Back To Their Roots

August 3rd, 2008 by Skankity Spence

No Doubt, you may have heard, is coming back in full swing sometime in 2009. Gwen, Adrian, Tony and Tom are in the middle of making the album as we speak.

The only question is, what will they sound like?

Before and during Tragic Kingdom, No Doubt had a very ’ska’ and pop-punk sound. It can’t exactly be ‘pinpointed’ what they were at least during Tragic Kingdom, but you could tell they were definitely some sort of ska. After that, they began changing things up. Return of Saturn, the album following Tragic Kingdom, was less ska and more rock. The next album, Rocksteady, was more of a techno-thing which I thought was out of place since the album was titled Rocksteady. Techno-stuff out-playing rocksteady in a rocksteady album??

But it seems they have decided to go back to their roots! The good’ol ska days. The very thing that made them awesome – in my book. And what better way to tell us than while eating pizza and being all cool about it?
