GUD Magazine: Issue 3 On The Way
GUD Magazine:(pronounced “good”) is Greatest Uncommon Denominator, a literary magazine available in paperback or PDF form twice a year. This magazine delivers good quality sci-fi stories, poetry, art, comics, and essays. Probably my favorite literary magazine – if not the only one I read. But this is coming from a guy who enjoys tons of novels.
Why do I personally like it so much? I have trouble concentrating on two books at one time. Every now then, I have to read a book for school. But I also want to read something that I’m interested in. This magazine is great for me to fill in gaps with awesome short stories hand picked and perfected (it feels like). I can read these things in one sitting and just enjoy a break from tedious school-required reading.
I say this now because they are sort of new, but they seem to be getting ground. The first three issues (The very first, ‘Issue 0′) held the title “GUD” in the same print. Now, Issue 3 (Fourth book) has “GUD” written artistically and relevant to its issues theme. Very nice, and I believe good timing. (Though, who am I to say? This is a pimply opinion.)
So, to the point, Issue 3 is coming and I suggest that if you enjoy reading poetry, off-the-wall short stories or art: this is for you. Order yourself a copy and try it out. ;)
(Hint: For you skeptics, if you sign up you get a free short story and poem to view from either previous or current issues in PDF form. So You’ll get an idea of what you’re getting into before you commit to buying.)
It should be noted that each issue contains a theme. Here are words for Issue 3:
Issue 3 is an amazing creation, crammed full of stories and art, with poems, Flash fiction and an entertaining report to leaven the mix. Whether we’re battling a mechanical daemon in “A Song, a Prayer, an Empty Space” or experiencing jealousy towards unusual rivals in “Soon You Will Be Gone and Possibly Eaten”, we’re following the theme of Mechanical Flight into strange and unexpected places (and at times flying further afield).
